photo X plorers
Well I finally got around to infiltrating a building last week that I've been surveying sporadically for months. Hooked up with a new photographer friend through Kijiji and off we went for a little mid-week mid-aftenoon adventure. We weren't disappointed.
Meandering through abandoned properties looking for compositions is an adventure I've come to love. Never knowing what's around the next corner. Always keeping your mind aware of the potential dangers around you. For me it's almost like a sixth sense kicks in and really opens the mind.
With the current recession that's going on, more places like this will become frequent and add to the availability of images filed under the "subjects of urban decay."

Harley Heaven
Shooting images with high dynamic range really makes one sit back and wonder what we're constantly missing out on during daily visual life. A recent shoot with a good friend's Harley Sportster brought out an amazing sky and detail in the chrome. I recommend any photographer with a passion for new techniques to try this style of photography. To view the rest of the series visit my flickr page.

Behemoth Still Standith
There are very few manufacturer's still around these days let alone buildings which are older than 100 years. Here's a beauty. Shot on the weekend in full high dynamic range.
The Krug Furniture Company in Kitchener. Still in operation. Located directly across from the Kitchener Train Station. If you look in this photo from a visit of King George and Queen Elizabeth from 1939 you'll see the factory wall in the background.
Here's a very cool shot taken last year by Iain Myrans last year and posted on his blog.

Collapse of GM
Ironically with last week's bankruptcy announcement I shot what I would have to say is my favorite all-time GM image.
A 1939 GMC Pick Up that I happened to come across while driving in town.
iStockphoto.com just dropped me a line to tell me that they have chosen this image and this one for their new upcoming "Premiere" gallery.

Latest Photo Walk
Just out and about on the weekend. Met up with a local photographer at a little carnival near my house.
Cool guy.
Even cooler portfolio and interests.
I'm starting to collect places run by Moms and Pops. Maybe venture into General Stores.
For most of the weekend I was MR HDR. Fun. Experimental. Learning Curve.
